What is RSP?

Through Fall 2019, the Regents Scholars Program accepted 20-30 incoming freshman each fall and provided a competitive scholarship to off-set tuition, fees, room and board. Students were selected from the Honors College application and interview process. The program encouraged students to pursue a bachelor’s degree in their chosen field while working to develop a greater sense of self awareness and international trends and issues. A focused curriculum culminated in a junior-year study abroad course. In addition, RSP provided scholars with leadership training and experiences which encouraged them to think of themselves as change agents- both on campus and in their future profession. The Regents Scholars Program was intended for incoming freshmen in the Fall directly following their high school graduation. The last class of Regents Scholars will graduate in 2022.

Regents’ Scholars Experience:

• A 4 year scholarship applicable to tuition, fees, room and board
• A group trip to Western Europe during a summer semester, normally done the summer following your 3rd year.
• Unique courses designed to teach leadership and global awareness
• Access to special Regents’ Scholars events

Regent’s Scholars Requirements:

• Enrollment and completion of at least 15 hours a semester toward degree
• Students must live in Phase II their first 2 years with the option of living in Prairie Crossing or off campus their last 2 years. If students choose to live off campus their last 2 years their scholarship will be reduced.
• Students are required to take 5 Regents courses, as well as attend the trip to Western Europe during a summer. If a student cannot attend the summer trip, they may take an extra global-designated course instead.
• Students are required to enroll in 6 credit hours of honors-designated courses
• Students are required to enroll in 15 credit hours of global-designated courses upon graduation.
• To be in good standing, a student must maintain a GPA of 3.3 or higher
• Complete 24 hours of community service each semester of second and third year of enrollment.
