Celebrating an Extraordinary Life
Andy dedicated himself to a life of books, ideas, family and friends. A first-generation college student, he graduated from East Texas State University with a bachelor's in political science in 1983 and attended two of the most reputable theological seminaries in the country. His career was in service to others, from helping young people in trouble to becoming a probation officer. His life was driven by seeking ways to live ethically, to love mercy, and to do justice. Those of us lucky enough to know him were graced by someone with a first-rate mind and a natural warmth that drew others to him.

In tribute to a life well-lived, a direct scholarship is being created in his honor to help first-generation college students at A&M-Commerce. Andy believed that money's only legitimate use was to help other people, and it would make him happy to know that his family and friends were using their gifts to help others in his name.
