2012 DFW Metroplex Linguistics Conference
For the first time, A&M-Commerce is part of the 4th DFW Metroplex Linguistics Conference. The Department of Linguistics and TESOL of UT-Arlington hosted this one-day event where linguists from the Dallas-Fort Worth area present their research.
The Applied Linguistic Lab of the Department of Literature and Languages at A&M-Commerce was represented by Dr. Christian Hempelmann, Assistant Professor of Linguistics, who gave a talk on “Revisiting Semantic Design Principles for Natural Language Ontologies” and by Laura Di Ferrante, graduate student, who presented a poster on “Small Talk: A Quantitative Approach.” Both the presentations were well-received and A&M-Commerce has been invited to participate in next year's conference together with UT-Arlington, University of North Texas, and the Graduate Institute of
Applied Linguistics.
