A&M-Commerce Faculty Member Appointed as Visiting Scholar at Rutgers

The Samuel DeWitt Proctor Institute for Leadership, Equity, and Justice at Rutgers University has appointed A&M-Commerce faculty Dr. Leslie U. Ekpe as a Visiting Scholar.

The Proctor Institute aids Visiting Scholars with research on leadership, equity and justice in higher education. Appointees are required to participate in the institute's programming and research and are provided access to mentoring, professional development, publishing and presentation opportunities and national exposure for their work.

Ekpe joined the A&M-Commerce faculty in fall as an assistant professor for the Department of Higher Education and Learning Technologies. Her research promotes access for minoritized peoples, specifically focusing on anti-racist policies, racial equity in higher education and society, and diversity, equity, and inclusion principles. Her research is published in academic journals such as Innovative Higher Education, Journal of School Leadership, Equity in Education & Society, and Journal of Issues in Intercollegiate Athletics.
