A&M-Commerce Ranked No. 9 for Social Work Program
A&M-Commerce placed at No. 9 in the Online College Database's recent ranking of “Top Colleges in Texas: Fighting for Families and Children.” The list of 51 schools orders the institutions' social work programs by the number of graduates, affordability, quality of facilities, internship opportunities and other features.
At $6,583 in tuition and fees, A&M-Commerce is the most affordable choice within the top 10.
The list of “Top Colleges in Texas: Fighting for Families and Children” consists of only fully accredited public or private, non-profit institutions that grant four-year degrees and produced at least five social work graduates in 2012. In that year, A&M-Commerce conferred 147 degrees in social work.
“We are pleased at this recognition of the contributions made by A&M-Commerce and the social work profession in working for the betterment of the families and children of Texas,” said Dr. Orren Dale, director and head of the A&M-Commerce Department of Social Work. “The goal of the program is to provide affordable education for people wanting to make a difference in the lives of others. The faculty and students of the program, and the agencies with whom we partner in training young professionals, will continue to dedicate themselves to the vital work with families.”
The Online College Database sourced data from the Integrated Post-secondary Education Data System (IPEDS), the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) and the Carnegie Classification system to compile its rankings.
A&M-Commerce's School of Social Work offers bachelor's and master's degrees in the discipline. Information about the programs is available here.
