A&M-Commerce Students at NATSAA Competition

Three Texas A&M University-Commerce students recently placed at the National Association of Teachers of Singing Artist Awards (NATSAA) Texoma Regional Voice Competition.

NATS works to offer learning experiences to its members through workshops, intern programs, master classes, and conferences. Students of NATS members are given the opportunity to attend Student Auditions, which is one of the organization's most widely recognized activities. They can then compete at a national level, along with members, through the NATSAA.

The annual Texoma Regional Conference and Student Auditions were held at Baylor University from November 7-9. By membership, the Texoma region is the fifth largest region in the country. During the competition, each student was required to prepare three songs. One was in English, one in a foreign language, and one was an Oratorio, or Opera Aria. In the preliminary round, students sang all three pieces. If they advanced to the semi-final or final rounds, they sang one piece again.

A&M-Commerce's Matthew Morales placed third in the Senior Men's Division, and Micah Krajca and James Melton were both Semi-Finalists.
