A&M-Commerce to Host Partnerships Conference on October 7

Changing the Game: University, School District and Community Partnerships Conference will take place at A&M-Commerce on October 7. Hosted by A&M-Commerce College of Education and Human Services, the conference will explore and promote the benefits of collaboration among universities, school districts and communities.

Educators, school administrators, community officials and other interested individuals are encouraged to attend this free event.

Dr. Sharonda Pruitt and Dr. Mark J. Reid of A&M-Commerce are organizing the conference. According to Pruitt, “This is an excellent opportunity that showcases the great work the university, regional school districts and organizations are doing to strengthen education networks in north Texas.”

The conference will feature a keynote address from Blake Cooper, executive director of Friends of Texas Public Schools, as well as a lunch address by Dr. Roosevelt Nivens, superintendent of Community ISD. In addition, a panel of business leaders, educators and university officials will share their experiences with creating and sustaining strong partnerships.

The event will provide an opportunity for attendees to network and explore new thoughts and cutting-edge ideas surrounding university-school-community partnerships. “This partnership conference builds on the work we have been doing in the College of Education and Human Services, building relationships with local school districts and communities,” Reid said.

Welcome and Keynote: 10 a.m. – 11 a.m.

Panel Discussion: 11:15 a.m. – 12:15 a.m.

Lunch: 12:15 p.m. – 2 p.m.
