Percussion Studio Concerts
Texas A&M University-Commerce's Percussion Studio students are holding their fall concerts this week and on November 10 at 7:30 p.m. in Finney Concert Hall.
Percussion Ensemble I and Panimation Steel Band I held their concert on November 3, and Percussion Ensembles II and III will hold theirs next Monday alongside Panimation Steel Band II. The purpose of these concerts is to allow Percussion Studio students to showcase their work for the semester. Each year, the ensembles hold one fall concert each and two spring concerts.
“The groups perform a wide variety of literature including contemporary works, small ensemble pieces with three people, works for large ensembles of 11 players, an arrangement of a 20th-Century string quartet, marimba band ragtime pieces, and a world premiere of a marimba quartet,” said Director of Percussion Dr. Brian Zator.
Each ensemble is comprised of 10 to 14 students, and some students perform in one ensemble and one steel band. All concerts are free and open to the public.
