Charles G. Hill

Charles G. Hill has had a distinguished career spanning over 49 years, occupying diverse roles. He has a passion for economic development and has been involved in multiple city economic development corporations. He is also invested in civic service and bettering his local community. He and his wife, Debbi, live in Tyler, Texas, and are very active in their church and in the surrounding area.

Education

Hill graduate from Texas A&M University-Commerce in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science in Education.

Career

After graduating, Hill had a brief position teaching and coaching, until he decided to transition into the electricity field. He worked with

Texas Power and Light Company and its subsequent companies: TU Electric, TXU and Oncor Electric Delivery. Throughout his career, Hill held diverse roles in training and customer service. Eventually, he moved into management in field operations and customer operations. Hill transferred to ten different communities in the Oncor service territory. He spent 14 years in Crockett, six years in Paris, and 15 years in Tyler, where he retired as the East Region manager of Customer Operations. At Oncor, Hill focused much of his energy on community leadership and economic development.

Economic Development

Hill has a passion for economic development. After completing the Texas A&M Basic Economic Development course, he was instrumental in forming the Houston County Economic Development Corporation and served as its chairman. He later served two terms as chairman of the board of the Tyler Economic Development Corporation and continues to stay in touch with economic development in the Tyler area.

Civic and local Service

Hill has served in multiple community leadership roles in Terrell, Crockett, Paris, and Tyler, and as the Chamber of Commerce board chairman in Crockett, Paris, and Tyler. He was the Rotary Club president in Crockett, trustee of Lon Morris College, and chairman of the board of The Park of East Texas, home of the East Texas State Fair. In retirement, he continues to serve on the board of Hospice of East Texas, as a trustee on the board of Texas College, and on the development board at the University of Texas at Tyler. Finally, Hill currently mentors a group of young men in leadership roles in Tyler.
