SPRING 2018 CHANGES TO PROCESS

The following changes to the thesis and dissertation processes have taken effect

  • Students conducting studies that do not require IRB, IACUC, or IBC approval may begin data collection after completing RCR training (completed through CITI) and after receiving approval from their advisor to do so. Students no longer have to wait for OTDS approval to begin data collection.
  • Students conducting studies that require IRB, IACUC, or IBC approval may begin data collection after receiving approval from the appropriate reviewing body. Students no longer have to wait for OTDS approval to begin data collection.
  • OTDS will no longer send theses and dissertations to an external methodologist for review. The committee and the department are responsible for ensuring research completed by graduate students is of the highest quality.

OTDS staff members are in the process of revising and updating the website and all related forms to reflect the changes in our processes. During this time, some of the pages may no longer be available or the information may no longer be accurate. We are working to update the website as soon as possible. Please contact OTDS@tamuc.edu or call (903)886-5968 with any questions or concerns regarding the changes and how they will impact you and your students.
