15TH DFW METROPLEX LINGUISTICS CONFERENCE

Conference Summary: On November 10th, 2023, A&M-Commerce hosted the 15th annual DFW Metroplex Linguistics Conference. A special thanks to all that attended the event! We look forward to hosting again in 2028.

The Applied Linguistics Laboratory (ALL) of Texas A&M University-Commerce is excited to host the upcoming 15th annual DFW Metroplex Linguistics Conference at our Dallas facilities on November 10th, 2023.

This is a one-day linguistics conference, in cooperation with four other institutions of higher learning around the DFW Metroplex. Faculty and students from the University of Texas at Arlington, University of North Texas (Denton), Dallas International University, University of North Texas at Dallas, and Texas A&M University-Commerce will be presenting talks and posters.

dREGISTRATION

Pre-conference online registration has closed (in other words, nametags have officially been printed). However, any individuals who have not registered (or were not listed as a presenter (poster or paper)), can still attend. You will just have a handwritten nametag.

dPAPERS & POSTERS

The call for papers and posters has ended.

Paper Presentations:

There will be 10 paper presentations

  • 30 minutes long, 20 minutes for presenting and 10 minutes for Q&A
  • The presentations will not be recorded.
  • Presenters should bring their presentation materials (e.g., PowerPoints) on a USB so they can be added directly to the computer in the conference room. Or, presentation materials can be emailed to molly.depue@tamuc.edu no later than November 9th with the subject line, "November 10th, DFW Metroplex Conference". 
  • Presenters should not plan on connecting their own device to the computer/projector in the room. If this is an issue for you, please contact shelby.miller@tamuc.edu

Poster Presentations:

There will be over 20 poster presentations at this years conference!

  • Poster presenters should plan on mounting their posters to the wall with either magnets or painters tape. We may have some of these supplies available, but please bring your own if possible. 
  • There are no set standards for poster dimensions at this conference. If you are unsure, you can aim for an average size of 3-4 feet x 4-5 feet.
  • If needed, posters can be mailed directly to the event venue. Here are two addresses depending on the mail carrier:

This year's conference is being held at Texas A&M University-Commerce's Dallas facilities, at 8750 N Central Expy, Dallas, TX 75231.

d PARKING & EVENT ACCESS

Parking is FREE! 

Students and guests to the Dallas location are to park ONLY in spots in the parking lots marked “PERMIT”.  No physical permit is required, these spaces are specifically for Texas A&M-Commerce at Dallas use. 

Enter the building through the main entrance, proceed to the elevators directly to the right of the security desk area for access to floor 19. 

After arriving on floor 19, proceed to the end of the lobby opposite the reception desk and enter the “Lion Head” elevator to floor 20.   

On floor 20, follow signs and balloons to the event!
