Entrance Exams

All non-resident students not seeking a degree from a Texas institution are exempt from entrance examinations.
For in state students please read the following information. 

To be exempt from testing:

  1. ACT scores - Composite 23; English 19, Math 19 - no older than 5 years
  2. SAT scores - Composite 1070; Verbal 500, Math 500 - no older than 5 years
  3. TAAS scores - Writing 1770; Math 86; Reading 89 (good for 2003 - 2004 only)
  4. TAKS scores - 2200 Math or 2200 English/Language Arts with a 3 Writing Subscore
  5. Received an Associate degree or Baccalaureate degree
  6. Out-of-State/Private institution transfer who has satisfactorily completed college level work with a grade of C or better in areas of reading, math, and writing
  7. Has met readiness standard at another Texas public higher education institution -- "C" or better in developmental coursework.
  8. Serving in active military
  9. Serving as a member of a Reserve component of a Armed Forces for at least three years preceding enrollment.
  10. Honorably discharged, retired, or released from active duty in military on or after August, 1, 1990.
