On March 7, 2024, the Accounting and Finance Department at Texas A&M University-Commerce hosted its semi-annual Town Hall Meeting, bringing together a vibrant and engaged community of students, faculty, staff, and industry experts from Texas Instruments, Moss Adams, and Saville CPAs & Advisors.

Aligned with the College of Business' dedication to enriching students’ understanding of the accounting and finance profession and career opportunities, the event served as a platform for discussions, networking, and valuable insights. Open to all majors, students seized the opportunity to connect with their professors, academic advisors, and peers, enabling them to delve deeper into scholarship opportunities, academic advising, career services and the latest developments at the Accounting and Finance Department. As part of the town hall, a panel discussion was also hosted with industry experts sharing their wealth of experience and offering invaluable advice for students regarding future internships and careers.

Exemplifying the Accounting and Finance Department’s ongoing commitment to fostering connections and networking opportunities for students in an informal and supportive environment, the town hall is hosted twice a year. The event aims to allow students of any major to learn more about the career paths and opportunities in the field of accounting and finance while providing a platform for them to ask questions and engage in meaningful discussions with leaders in their fields.

Dr. Caroline Hartmann, Interim Department Head and Associate Professor of Accounting, expressed, “The semi-annual town hall meeting serves as a cornerstone of our department’s commitment to nurturing dialogue and enhancing students’ readiness for careers in accounting and finance.
