A&M-Commerce Earns Distinguished TEA Designation for Second Year

A&M-Commerce has earned the Vetted Teacher Residency designation from the Texas Education Agency for the second consecutive year.

The vital distinction means that A&M-Commerce is eligible for state and national grant opportunities in conjunction with local school districts. These districts may submit proposals to the state of Texas that provide funds to compensate student teachers during their residency semesters.

“This recognition by the state is evidence that our student teaching clinical year experience exceeds the state's standards for quality teacher preparation,” said Juan Araujo, Ph.D., who serves as assistant dean and associate professor in the College of Education and Human Services. “We are extremely honored to receive this designation.”
