Lion Golf Has Record-Breaking Seasons

For the first time in the history of Lion Golf, both the men's and women's teams qualified for the NCAA Division II Championships in the 2021 season.

The Lion women were ranked as high as fourth in the nation during the season and finished in ninth place in their first-ever appearance at the National Championships. Sarah Wongsinth was named the program's first-ever All-Region honoree and then the program's first-ever All-American. Sophie-Charlott Hempel was named honorable mention All-American.

After a strong regular season, the Lion men played their best golf late in the year, claiming the South Central/West Regional Championship for the first time in program history. This title pushed the Lions to the National Championships for the first time since 1998.

At the national meet in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, the Lions stepped up in the final day of stroke play and advanced to the match play portion of the tournament as the fifth seed. They were narrowly defeated in the national quarterfinals by Georgia Southwestern to finish fifth.
