Photography and Humanitarianism: Is There a Contradiction?

The Texas A&M University-Commerce Sam Rayburn Speaker Series proudly continues with a presentation from Jeremy Adelman, PhD, titled “Photography and Humanitarianism: Is There a Contradiction?”  His address will take place in the Rayburn Student Center Conference Rooms A&B on October 3 at 7 p.m.

Adelman has lived and worked in seven countries and four continents. He graduated with his bachelors' degree from the University of Toronto and then proceeded to earn a masters' degree in economic history from the London School of Economics and a doctorate in modern history from the University of Oxford. Since 1992, he has taught at the University of Oxford, the University of Essex, the Instituto di Tella, and Princeton University.

He has published five books, including “Republic of Capital: Buenos Aires and the Legal Transformation of the Atlantic World” which won the American Historical Association's Atlantic History Prize. Adelman is currently working on two books, one of which, “Latin America: A Global History,” is forthcoming with Princeton University Press.

The formation of the Global History Collaborative has been Adelman's most recent initiative.
