Professor Publishes New Study on Teacher Retention

In a new study published in Educational Policy, A&M-Commerce professor Sarah Guthery and her co-author, Lauren Bailes at the University of Delaware, examined the retention rates of new teachers in Texas. The study finds that traditionally-certified teachers in traditional public schools are most likely to still be teaching after five years when compared to new teachers certified other ways or teachers whose initial placement is in a charter school.Â
