Ralph Hall to Donate Papers to A&M-Commerce
On Tuesday, July 2 at 11am, Congressman Ralph Hall and A&M-Commerce President, Dan R. Jones, will sign an agreement finalizing the donation of Congressman Hall's historical papers to the university. The public signing ceremony will take place at A&M-Commerce's Rockwall facility, 2610 Observation Trail, Rockwall, Texas.
“Ralph Hall is a Texas legend, a man who has devoted his life to public service. His papers comprise a veritable treasure trove of local, state, and national political life for the last six decades, and will be an invaluable resource to students and scholars everywhere,” said President Jones. “We are proud that he has chosen to entrust them to Texas A&M University-Commerce.”
The agreement will designate A&M-Commerce's Gee Library as the permanent location for Congressman Hall's personal papers, official documents, and memorabilia. The university will archive and preserve the material as historical documents.
“We have been working with Mr. Hall and his staff for many years to make this donation possible. We currently have 62 boxes at the Gee Library and have made plans to continue working with his staff to coordinate the transfer of additional boxes from DC, as well as the regional and campaign offices, “said Andrea Weddle, Head of Special Collections and Archives. “Mr. Hall's collection contains a wealth of information about national politics, and the Texas 4th Congressional District, which will, no doubt, draw researchers from around the country to Commerce.”
Congressman Hall's service to the university, the region and the nation make A&M-Commerce a fitting home for this collection.
