Staff Member Appointed to Texas Association of Play Therapy Board of Directors

On March 20, Dr. Candace Chuyou-Campbell, clinical director for the Department of Counseling at East Texas A&M University, was appointed to the board of directors of the Texas Association for Play Therapy (TxAPT).
The Texas Association for Play Therapy is a professional organization dedicated to supporting and promoting the field of play therapy across Texas. It serves as the state branch of the national Association for Play Therapy and provides resources, continuing education opportunities and networking for mental health professionals who use play therapy in their practice.
Beginning Aug. 1, Dr. Chuyou-Campbell will serve a three-year term as the secretary on the board of directors. Part of her mission includes helping organize the annual TxAPT Conference, where attendees spend a weekend connecting with fellow play therapists and gaining valuable training.
Play therapy—which utilizes play to help individuals process emotions, experiences and psychological challenges—is one of the many concepts students explore when pursuing a degree in counseling at East Texas A&M.
