A&M-Commerce Alum Receives Human Rights Award

The Texas Counseling Association recently honored A&M-Commerce alum Dr. Staussa Ervin ('98, '05) as the recipient of its 2023 Molly Gerold Human Rights Award, which recognizes contributions in one or more areas of human rights.

Ervin's background advocating for human rights includes her role as president of the North Central Texas Counseling Association and three years serving on the Fort Worth Human Relations Commission, with a recent re-appointment through October 2025.

Ervin is a professor of psychology at Tarrant County College Trinity River. She earned her master's in psychology from A&M-Commerce in 1998 and returned to earn a doctorate in supervision, curriculum and instruction in 2005.
