Teachers Teaching Teachers

The National Writing Project focuses the knowledge, expertise, and leadership of our nation’s educators on sustained efforts to improve writing and learning for all learners.

The National Writing Project of Northeast Texas (NWPNET) provides professional development opportunities for in-service teachers within local school districts who want to learn more about effective practices for the teaching and learning of writing from early childhood through adulthood.

Heart for Community

Community is at the heart of the National Writing Project of Northeast Texas (NWPNET). Community is a powerful force in the classroom and our summer institutes, where communities of writers explore issues in writing and teaching writing. You will learn how to improve your writing, how writers think, and how to better teach writing.

Community Development

NWPNET will build continuity in the community by offering additional opportunities to regroup and refresh. Look for book clubs, writing marathons, research studies, professional development, teacher demonstration presentation days and other events designed to keep the group connected through our shared interest in teaching writing.

WRITING INSTITUTES

Our writing institute events are immersive writing experiences where communities of writers explore issues in writing and teaching writing. You will learn how to improve your writing, how writers think and how to better teach writing.

Summer Institute

July 8-19, 2024 | 9 a.m.-3 p.m. | Virtual

We are excited to host our second invitational Summer Institute. We invite regional teachers and literary leaders to join us for a virtual two-week institute followed by continued participation one Saturday per month during the 2023-2024 school year. This is your chance to be part of our re-launch and work as an early leader in an organization that will impact the way students across Northeast Texas learn to write for years to come!

On-site Professional Development

Professional development for writing instruction is available for schools and districts. NWPNET maintains a catalog of solutions including workshops, mentoring and resource materials. When a partner school requests support, an NWPNET teacher consultant is matched with the need. Our solutions are customized to meet the unique needs of schools and students.
