East Texas A&M Professor Featured in HigherEdJobs Interview on Graduate Student Success

Dr. Leslie Ekpe, assistant professor in the Department of Higher Education and Learning Technologies at East Texas A&M University, was recently featured in an interview with HigherEdJobs, a leading national platform for academic careers and insights.
In the article, Ekpe discusses the professional development symposiums and writing retreats she has organized for graduate students over the past four semesters. Designed to support students beyond the classroom, these events cover critical topics such as publishing, research strategies, dissertation planning and academic writing.
What began as a campus initiative has grown into a global resource, with participation from institutions across the country and internationally. The free, virtual sessions provide flexible, expert-led programming aimed at enhancing student success.
Ekpe, who joined East Texas A&M in 2023, developed the series based on her own graduate experience and commitment to student-centered learning. With support from university grants, she has invited scholars from across the country to contribute as speakers.
