East Texas A&M Alum Named Plano ISD Principal

Jean Laswell, a 2007 graduate from East Texas A&M University, has been named the first-ever principal of the newly established Plano ISD Career and Technical Education (CTE) Center.
The CTE Center provides opportunities for students to gain knowledge and skills they may use in high school, college, a career after graduation, and/or a financial means to help further their education. CTE blends academics and career skills to produce well-rounded graduates. The initiative is based on the belief that the curricula of the 21st century should combine rigorous academics with relevant career and technical education. Construction began on the CTE Center in Nov. 2024, with classes set to begin in 2026.
Laswell earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from ETAMU. She has spent more than a decade in CTE leadership across two school districts, designing programs, managing construction and building business partnerships. She began her career teaching computer science, marketing and engineering, and is known for launching impactful CTE programs tailored to student and industry needs.
Pursuing a degree with the Department of Management and Economics at East Texas A&M is a great way to prepare for leadership opportunities in a variety of career fields.
