QEP Fall Semester Summary

By:  Christopher R. Woodard

The QEP team has had a great semester preparing students for an interconnected world. We encouraged students to get involved with global events around campus to help them gain campus experience and help them towards receiving the benefits of being a global scholar. This semester we have been heavily involved with students around campus to keep them updated on everything QEP-related.

The team set up tables in the Rayburn Student Center at various times this school year to get students more familiar with their ePortfolios. By doing this, we were able to interact and engage with students who either were having problems with their ePortfolio or those who have never created one before.  LaTara Newell, a senior here at Texas A&M University-Commerce, says she never knew about ePortfolios before talking to the QEP team, but will use it to help her with future job opportunities. She said, “This is a great tool for students all around campus to get an advantage when applying for jobs.”

We also added a “Marketing” tab on our site which allows anyone to download our QEP logo for event flyers and list serve emails. Along with this we have added a “Marketing Around Campus Guideline” for any student organizations/departments that need help promoting their events. Included in this guide are step-by-step instructions on how to start marketing an event four weeks prior to the date. We also included the resources available around campus that can help promote both paid and free advertising.

With a semester full of Global Competency Aptitude Assessments, ePortfolio sessions, marketing events, and most importantly preparing students for interconnected world, it has been a very successful semester for the QEP team. We look forward to making a bigger impact around campus in the spring semester as well!
