Welcome from the Director of Residential Living and Learning

Welcome to A&M-Commerce Residential Living and Learning!

Our talented staff and student leaders are committed to serving you and working with you to create an atmosphere conducive to academic, intellectual, social, and emotional growth.

We are glad that you have chosen to live on campus and are looking forward to a great year. Our goal is to provide you with a pleasant and comfortable living environment where life outside the classroom encourages and supports the academic mission of the University. We are confident that the many individuals and experiences that you will encounter this year will make living in our campus community an exciting and enjoyable part of your college years.

Living in on campus housing comes with many benefits and freedoms. As with other liberties, these freedoms come with responsibilities. You will be asked to respect the privacy of your fellow residents, to encourage practices which create and support a learning environment, and to do your part to promote a safe and secure community.

University Housing is a place we hope you will be proud to call your home while at Texas A&M University-Commerce. Whether you are a new or returning student, Residential Living and Learning professional staff, along with Resident Assistants (RAs), Residence Hall Association, desk staff, and office personnel will help you get to know other students, learn your way around, and get involved in campus life.

We encourage you to become involved in your community. The students on campus represent a wide array of backgrounds, cultures, life-styles and attitudes. Our on-campus residences provide a rich and unique opportunity for you to learn more about yourself and others. We invite you to seek out experienced students, especially members of your Residential Living and Learning staff and Residence Hal Association leaders to assist you in making your stay at A&M-Commerce a successful one.

Please take some time to review the Residential Living and Learning Handbook that has been prepared by the Residential Living and Learning staff in the hope that it will enable you to get the most from your stay with us. The handbook contains general information, community standards, housing policies, procedures, and other important information. Please take time to familiarize yourself with it and if you have any questions, do not hesitate to seek out any Residential Living and Learning staff member to find the answer.

If you have any questions at all, don't hesitate to visit us at the Residential Living and Learning Office in room 100 Halladay Student Services, call (903) 886-5797, fax (903) 886-5794, check out our Web pages, or e-mail us at

We in Residential Living and Learning believe that your living experience should be one of excitement and growth, and we look forward to working with you to make it that way.  Again, welcome home Lions and best wishes for a successful year! We are glad you are here!!!
