A&M-Commerce Revamps Giving Initiatives, Launching Lion Athletics Scholarship Fund
COMMERCE – Texas A&M University-Commerce has announced changes to its athletic fundraising priorities and annual fund initiatives.
The Lion Champions Fund has reformed as the Lion Athletics Scholarship Fund. A&M-Commerce provides educational opportunities to 350 student-athletes who compete at the NCAA Division I level with the support of nearly $4.5 million in athletic scholarships on an annual basis.
Recognizing the transformative impact that scholarships have on student-athlete success in the classroom and in competition, growing annual donations and members to the Lion Athletics Scholarship Fund is the top fundraising priority for Lion Athletics. Donors will still be able to support their favorite team through sport-specific scholarships, in addition to sport-specific excellence funds that will enhance the operational support for the designated team.
“The core of our mission is transforming the lives of young people through access to world-class education,” said Director of Athletics, Jim Curry. “Scholarship investment is a fundamental priority when it comes to supporting our student-athletes, and there is an undeniable correlation between scholarship support and achievement in the classroom and on the playing surface. The Lion Athletics Scholarship Fund will not only provide our donors with clarity on where their gifts are being directed, but supporters will also see the direct impact of their investment on both a recurring and timeless basis.”
In addition to supporting the education of Lion student-athletes, donors to the Lion Athletics Scholarship Fund can enjoy additional benefits, including parking and hospitality at football and basketball games, special recognition, and unique opportunities to engage with student-athletes and coaches throughout the year. Full Donor Benefits chart can be found HERE.
In conjunction with the revamped Lion Athletics Scholarship Fund, Lion Athletics is hosting its first Giving Day on Tuesday, March 5, with the goal of setting all-time highs for number of supporters and total dollars raised. More details regarding Giving Day will be released soon.
Lion Athletics has updated its giving page to LionAthletics.com/Impact where Lion fans can learn more about the Lion Athletics Scholarship Fund and other ways to support our student-athletes and teams.
