College of Business Student Awarded TXCPA Scholarship

Texas A&M University-Commerce student Quyen Duong was recently awarded an Accounting Education Foundation Scholarship from the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants (TXCPA). Duong will receive $2,500 for the academic year, which will assist her in covering the CPA exam fees as well as studying material. Planning to graduate in Spring 2023 with a Master of Science in Accounting, she seeks to become Texas Certified Public Accountant and enter the accounting profession upon graduation. Within the College of Business, she is also a graduate assistant of research in the Department of Accounting and Finance and has previously served as a tutor for the department while she was obtaining her undergraduate degree.

“I am very excited about this scholarship, which will be of tremendous help to pay for my CPA exam review materials and fees,” Duong said. “I am very grateful to Dr. Hartmann for giving me this opportunity through her nomination and I look forward to sitting and taking the first part of the CPA exam in the spring of 2023.

The scholarship award is made possible through the generosity of TXCPA. They seek to reward college students who are majoring in accounting at Texas colleges and universities that have a high cumulative GPA and are performing well in accounting classes.
