Hackathon Spring 2024: ‘Business Value Creation through AI Innovation’

In collaboration with the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) North Texas Chapter, the Texas A&M University-Commerce Marketing and Business Analytics student organization hosted the highly anticipated Hackathon Spring 2024 competition.

Twenty teams took part in the competition which was launched on February 28, 2024, and concluded with the prize ceremony on March 6, 2024, which was hosted at the A&M-Commerce at Dallas location. Launched with the theme of “Business Value Creation through AI innovation,” students who took part demonstrated their business analytics knowledge to solve real-world problems, while working in teams to increase technical and presentation skills.

Madhumitha Vijayakuma, K M Wahiduzzaman Fahad, and Sabyasachi Ghosh Dastidar claimed the first-place prize of $1,000. Their team's strategic approach and analytical solution demonstrated a deep understanding of the competition’s theme: “Business Value Creation through AI Innovation for Theater Leader – CINEMARK”. The team's presentation and research showcased exceptional insights and solutions that intrigued the judges.

Securing the 2nd Prize of $500 were Abhishek Sharma and Aathira G. Nair, whose innovative strategies showcased problem-solving skills and resourcefulness. Stephanny Rijalba and Dharan Kumar Pala clinched the 3rd Prize, worth $250, with their insightful analysis and actionable recommendations. Rounding out the winners, Sangavi Kaliyappan, Silpa Chowdary Gopalam, and Ginikachi Oyakhare claimed the 4th Prize, also valued at $250.

In addition to the prize winners, special commendation was awarded to individuals who demonstrated exceptional contributions in specific categories. Pratyush Soday received recognition for Best Visualization, Joseph Navarre for Best Professionalism and Presentation Style, and Thuan Nguyen for Best AI Model.

Returning to the event is esteemed guest Vince Arnold – VP of Academic Relations at ISACA North Texas Chapter, along with the Interim Dean of the A&M-Commerce College of Business, Scott Wheeler, Head of the Marketing and Business Analytics Department and Professor of Business Analytics Dr. Zaki Malik, as well as Associate Professor, Dr. Son Bui. The guests commended the participants for their outstanding achievements while reflecting on the significance of the event.

The Hackathon Spring 2024 Prize Ceremony not only celebrated the remarkable accomplishments of its participants but also highlighted the invaluable synergy between academia and industry. By providing a platform for students to showcase their talents and address real-world challenges, the event exemplified the transformative potential of collaborative learning experiences.
