Zaira Rojo Ugalde

If you visit the Office of the President at A&M-Commerce, you will likely see Zaira's smiling face. A Lion alum, Zaira graduated from A&M-Commerce in 2021 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Now, she works as an administrative coordinator for the president's office. Zaira loves her job because she gets to be part of an institution that changes lives! When she’s not working, Zaira’s favorite hobby is traveling and exploring new places.

A Conversation with Zaira

Tell us a little about yourself.

I come from a small town in Queretaro, Mexico, where I spent my childhood. Family means everything to me. I come from a small family; there are just four of us: my mom, dad, little sister and me. I moved to the United States with my family when I was 16. Being in a new country and adapting to a new culture and language made my college journey challenging but rewarding. My family, professors and mentors were always an amazing support. I graduated with my Bachelor of Science in 2021, and I plan to continue my education and pursue my master's degree.

What would you tell a student who is thinking about attending A&M-Commerce?

As an alum, I can assure you that this is an excellent university filled with opportunities. Everyone here is always willing to help you succeed. You will always feel included; we're like a big welcoming family!

What do you like most about your career?

I love that I get to be a part of this amazing institution that changes and transforms lives. Being Hispanic, I also love that I'm able to encourage Latinx students to advance in higher education.
