Programs and Events
Lion Cousins pairs international and domestic students for either one semester or an entire year. During that time, students have the opportunity to learn from one another. For more information, please email [email protected].
International Education Week (IEW) is an annual November event where A&M-Commerce hosts a number of different events, including International Movie Night.
The Global Ambassador Program assists prospective and new A&M-Commerce international students in their pre-arrival preparations and their transition to living in America.
The Global Cultural Festival is an annual event to celebrate diverse communities at A&M-Commerce! Join us in celebrating our cultures. For more information, please email [email protected].
The Office of International Programs hosts a coffee hour each month in the Ferguson Social Science Building, Room 137. For a coffee hour schedule, contact the Office of International Programs.
The Dinner in an American Home (DAH) program is designed to foster friendships and enjoy a meal in the host’s home. For more information, please email [email protected].
Every semester, the OIP hosts trips to the DFW area for A&M-Commerce students. Destinations include Six Flags Theme Park, cultural markets and the San Antonio spring break trip. To find out more, contact the Office of International Programs.
International Student & Scholar Services: Advising
Student Advising
Students may see an advisor during our daily drop-in periods. “Drop-in” means you don’t need an appointment. The advisor on duty will see you on a first-come, first-served basis.
Drop-in Hours:
Tuesday and Wednesday: 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:30 to 4 p.m.
Thursday: Limited advising, mostly case by case
Due to the reconstruction efforts in the Ferguson building, The Office of International Programs has been relocated to the 1st floor of the Library, room 156. Our office welcomes students to arrange in-person or zoom appointments with us by emailing [email protected]We are located at Ferguson Social Sciences, Building, 201, or call us at 903.886.5097.

The ISSS offers the following services to both international students and exchange students:
- Advising on
- immigration
- various visa categories, including F-1/F2, J-1/J-2, H-1B/H4, and TN
- cultural adjustment and personal matters
- Assistance with international student health insurance
- Workshops for international and exchange students
- Community and campus outreach activities and events
- International mentoring program
- Act as a liaison between students and institutional departments or government agencies
