TAMUC Music Faculty Releases Video Performance Album
Dr. Daniel Kelly, professor of trumpet at Texas A&M University-Commerce, recently released a video album on YouTube. The album, titled “Streets of Scarlet and Shadow,” features five pieces for trumpet and piano that draw inspiration from the aesthetic of film noir. The title track was composed by Dr. Alan Theisen and was commissioned by the A&M-Commerce Affiliate Chapter of the International Trumpet Guild in 2020. The project also features compositions by Kirsten Volness, Andrew Linn, Scott Johnson and fellow A&M-Commerce Music faculty Dr. Judy Bozone. Kelly performs on the album with piano accompaniment from A&M-Commerce Instructor of Music, Piano and Pedagogy Libby Vanatta. This project was funded by a faculty development grant from the A&M-Commerce College of Humanities, Social Sciences and Arts. Kelly and Vanatta will also perform the titular piece at the upcoming International Trumpet Guild Conference in Anaheim, Calif.
