Family Weekend is the first big event of the year for students and their families.
As of Sept. 19, pre-registration has closed. On-site registration will be available starting September 23 at 4 p.m. in the Rayburn Student Center Atrium. The cost for on-site registration will be $35 per family member.

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 23
4 p.m.
Check-In (Open until 7 p.m.)
At Check-In, you will receive your Family Weekend packet to get your weekend started the right way! Location: Rayburn Student Center Atrium
Blue and Gold Spirit and Traditions Selfie Challenge (until 7 p.m.)
Show off your Lion spirit in our Blue and Gold Selfie Challenge! Location: Anywhere on campus
Visit the TAMUC Bookstore (until 5 p.m.)
Get your TAMUC gear and more at our bookstore! Location: University Bookstore (inside student center)
5 p.m.
Family Weekend Welcome: Lucky Extravaganza! (Until 7 p.m.)*
Music, Novelties, Nacho Bar and the opportunity to meet and mingle with other TAMUC families, staff and faculty. Location: Lakeside Pavilion
7 p.m.
Planetarium Show: Beyond the Sun
While Celeste is fighting off sleep in her room by reading a book about astronomy, she receives an unexpected visit from Moon. Together, they enjoy a journey through the universe to discover what exoplanets are and how they can be detected. Location: Planetarium
8 p.m.
Family Weekend Bingo Party*
Enjoy an evening of Bingo! Anyone can win but TAMUC students must be present to claim prizes. Snacks and bar service will be available. Location: Rayburn Student Center Conference Rooms
8:15 p.m.
Planetarium Show: Waves, Winds and Stars
This live-action full-dome program puts you on the deck of the voyaging canoe Hōkūleʻa as you explore traditional Polynesian navigation. Learn how to read the stars and interpret the winds and waves to navigate without modern instruments. The film tells the story of the Polynesian Voyaging Society and the recovery of the nearly lost art and science of traditional, non-instrument navigation in Hawaii. Location: Planetarium

Family Breakfast (Until 10 a.m.)*
Start your morning with TAMUC staff and faculty by enjoying a wonderful breakfast. The menu includes scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, pancakes, biscuits and gravy, coffee, juice, milk and water. Location: Lion’s Mane Cafeteria
10 a.m.
Campus Recreation Open Gym*
The MRC provides open recreation opportunities to meet all of your work out/fitness needs Location: Morris Recreation Center
11 a.m.
Planetarium Demonstrations (Every 10 minutes until 2 p.m.)
Explore a demonstration of all of the wonderful opportunities provided by the Planetarium. Location: Planetarium
11:30 a.m.
Family Weekend BBQ and Festival (Until 2:30 p.m.)*
Enjoy novelties, music, food (hamburgers, hotdogs and veggie burger options) as well as an opportunity to relax and play rounds of trivia for an opportunity to win great prizes. Location: Great Lawn
12 p.m.
Family Swim (Until 3 p.m.)*
Grab your swimsuit and spend the afternoon relaxing in our refreshing pool. (You will need to complete the waiver at MRC) Location: Morris Recreation Center
1 p.m.
Family climb on the MRC Climbing Wall (Until 3 p.m.)*
Enjoy this fun opportunity to climb the 45-foot climbing wall. Location: Moris Recreation Center
Lion Volleyball game against Lamar University**
Come cheer on our A&M-Commerce Lion Volleyball team as they take on Lamar University! Location: Field House
3 p.m.
Family Weekend tailgate concert
Listen to your favorite cover songs from The WonderfulsBand and enjoy tailgate bites. Location: Memorial Stadium Tailgate Lot
6 p.m.
Lion Football game against North American University**
Come cheer on our A&M-Commerce Lion Football team as they take on North American University! Location: Memorial Stadium
* Please wear your family weekend lanyard at all times; lanyards are required for these designated events
** Athletic tickets are at a special rate for Family Weekend. If you lose your tickets you will need to purchase General Admission tickets at full price ($12-Football $5-Volleyball). Thank you for your support of A&M Commerce and Lion Athletics!
Frequently Asked Questions For Planning Your Visit
When and where is check-in?
Family Weekend check-in will be located inside the Rayburn Student Center.
Check-in will begin Friday, September 23 from 4-7 p.m. and Saturday, September 24 from 8 a.m.-2 p.m.
Is there a registration fee, and what does that include?
Yes, there is a registration fee. The registration fee is $25 per person (children 3 and under are free.)
Who can attend Family Weekend?
This is an ideal time for families of all students to experience A&M-Commerce. We invite parents, siblings, aunts and uncles, grandparents and anyone else in your family to join us for an exciting weekend!
Does my A&M-Commerce student have to pay the registration fee?
No, your A&M-Commerce student does not have to pay the Family Weekend registration fee.
Do I have to register?
Yes! The A&M-Commerce Family Weekend Committee coordinates opportunities for families to enjoy a campus experience with their students. The weekend includes social events, opportunities to network with University administration, faculty and staff, family weekend t-shirt, tickets to Lion Volleyball and Football games and much more!
When is the registration deadline?
Can I register on-site?
Yes, you can register on-site. Please be aware the cost of on-site registration will remain the same ($25) but NO T-SHIRT will be provided.
Do I have to check in for Family Weekend?
Yes! You will need to check in to get your family weekend t-shirt, wristband/food vouchers and tickets.
Can my student check in for our family?
Yes, your student can check you in and gather your t-shirt, lanyard and tickets. Please make sure your student brings their A&M-Commerce Lion Card (student ID).
Is my Family Weekend registration fee refundable?
Family Weekend registration fees are not refundable. Please encourage your student to pick up your registration materials even if you are unable to attend.
Do I have to wear the Lanyard?
Yes, you will need to wear your lanyard at all Family Weekend events. This will be your admission to events.
What happens if I lose my lanyard?
If you lose your lanyard, please come to the Family Weekend check-in at the Student Center.
Frequently Asked Questions During Your Visit
Where should I stay for family weekend?
There are a number of hotels in Hunt County and Hopkins County to suit your needs! Commerce, Greenville (approx 14 miles from campus), and Sulphur Springs (approx 20 miles from campus) all offer accommodations that are a short drive to campus.
What can I expect at the Family Weekend Tailgate?
Enjoy a family-oriented tailgate experience located in the official Lion tailgating section. We will provide traditional tailgate food and drinks. This event is open to ALL Family Weekend participants and is not dependent on you attending the game.
