Evelio Villarreal recently retired as Director of Bands at Plano East where he served as cluster leader for the East Cluster Band Program. Prior to his appointment as Director of Bands, he served as an Associate Director at Plano East. A music educator for 40 years, Mr. Villarreal has experience as a percussion instructor, performer and band director in the Plano, Duncanville, Austin and San Angelo Independent School Districts. Mr. Villarreal is currently serving as President of Alpha Chapter – Texas. He was honored in 2013 with an Honorary Lifetime Membership by the Plano East PTA. Mr. Villarreal was awarded the UIL Sponsor Excellence Award. This award, now in its 29th year, was created to identify and recognize outstanding sponsors who enable students to develop and refine their extracurricular talents to the highest degree possible within the education system. He maintains an active schedule as a band consultant, clinician, and adjudicator. Mr. Villarreal is an educational artist/endorser for Innovative Percussion, Incorporated and a contributing author of the band method book, Essential Musicianship for Band, published by the Hal Leonard Corporation.
